Team Hankook driver Alan Sinnott consolidated his overall third position in the 2010 Prodrift Series at Fermoy last Sunday, September 25th. Battling against mechanical problems, the Carlow driver did enough to secure an overall third position in his debut season with Team Hankook.
Entering the event, Sinnott was confident that his season long run of top 4 form would carry into the championship finale but an uncharachteristic mechanical issue forced the Hankook AE86 to take a zero point score in the all important Super Lap qualifying session resulting in a difficult seeding position for the all important Top 16 battles.
Drawn against championship runner up Nigel Colfer, Sinnott could not match the performance of his opponent and made an early exit from the competition. The points taken from the result however were enough to secure the Carlow drivers championship position as neither of his closest rivals could do enough to relegate Sinnott in the final results.
Sinnott’s Hankook team mate Alan Lenihan was also eliminated from the competition at the round of 16 by the eventual 2010 champion James Deane. The Cork driver was aiming to finish off his season with an improved performance following disapointing results at the two previous events but could not progress beyond his battle with Deane.
Reflecting on the 2010 season, Hankook Ireland Managing Director Niall Murray commented “ Hankook, as the 7th largest tyre company in the world, is involved in drift sponsorship because it helps us to reinforce our brand recognition among 15 – 32 year old males and females, a key target audience for the Hankook.
Hankook sponsorship of both Alan Sinnott and Alan Lenihan has worked out very well for the brand in 2010. The committment level shown by both teams, in the way the cars were prepared and presented at each round, added to their successes on the track, has allowed us to showcase Hankook performance tyres in a very positive and exciting way to our target audience. We would like to thank all of the team members in “Team Hankook” who were responsible for our very successful 2010 Prodrift Series campaign. “
During the off season, Team Hankook drivers will be appearing at select demonstrations, practice days and events before plans are made for another season of Prodrift competition.
